He was born in Horry County, the son of the late Dargan Fird and Hattie Brookie Todd Lewis.
He was a member of Chapel of the Sea Baptist Church and had been living in Spartanburg, working as a missionary at the Downtown Rescue Mission.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and was a member of the Loris D.A.V.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Wiley Lewis of Conway; three sons, Shawn E. Lewis of Thomson, Ga., Joey J. Chandler of McDonough, Ga. and Phillip A. Chandler of Conway; two daughters, N. Celeste Lapointe of Wilmington, N.C. and Amy L. Chambers of Winnsboro; two brothers, Charles Lewis of Conway and Robert Lewis of St. Petersburg, Fla.; eight sisters, Bonnie Stalvey of Longs, Mary Milligan, Gladys James and Edith Quaterman of Conway, Ethel Bacun of St. Petersburg, Fla., Cecile Schofil of Fort Valley, Ga., Lilly ``Lil'' Orville of Charleston and Edna Eddins of Coal City, W.Va.; and 10 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Watson Lewis and Dan Lewis and a son, Mark Avery Lewis.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethlehem Baptist Church. The Revs. Floyd Collins, Don Stanley and Dave Walton will officiate. Burial will be in Gause and Lewis family cemetery.
