She was born Aug. 21, 1924, in Anderson, the daughter of Leora and Edith (Prichard) Scantland. She resided in the Anderson/Alexandria area all of her lifetime.
Mary had worked as a staffing coordinator for Saint John's Medical Center and Community Hospital, both in Anderson.
She was a faithful member of Grace Holiness Church of Anderson. Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing the organ. Time spent with her family was very important to her, especially family camping trips and Sunday dinners, when all of the family came home. Her loving and warm smile will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Leora Scantland, in 1970; her mother, Edith (Prichard) Scantland, in 1981; a granddaughter, Rhonda Cummings; and a brother, Ed Scantland.
A Service of Home Going will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, officiated by the Revs. Mark Cravens and Tim Wiford. Interment will follow at Park View Cemetery, Alexandria.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Residents Activity Fund of Alexandria Care Center.
