Frank was a prosecuting attorney. Then in January, 1894, he was convicted of misappropriating a client's money and sentenced to one year in jail. Later that year the governor of Michigan pardoned and released Frank for medical reasons. Still disbarred, he went to work as a salesman for the Durfee Embalming Fluid Company. His divorced wife Mary and daughters Gertrude, Ada, and Mabel moved to Denver, Colorado, where Mary remarried. Her new married name was Cessna.
