Obituary of Thomas Edgar Roberts; received from Carol Wickerman, 2403 Old Cincinnati Pike, West Union, OH 45693-9701 4 Dec 2000. Date and source of obituary were not given. It is probably from the Council Grove Republican.
"THOMAS E. ROBERTS
Thomas Edgar Roberts was born in Ohio October 13, 1865, and died in Morris County Kansas, June 25, 1913. He came to Kansas with his parents in 1870, settling on Munkers creek, where he grew to manhood and with the exception of eight years in Colorado and New Mexico, his entire life was spent in Morris County.
In May 1887 he was married to Ella Foster. To this union were born seven sons and one daughter, six of whom survive him. The first and third sons died in New Mexico. Five sons and one daughter with his wife, mourn his death.
Tom, as he was familiarly called, was a good husband, a kind and loving father, a pleasant and accommodating [sic] neighbor; an upright and honest citizen, faithful and honest in all his dealings with his fellowman. Too much cannot be said of his integrity as a citizen and neighbor and it seems hard to give up such a one, but alas the call must be obeyed, whenever it comes.
Funeral was from the home near Garfield school house, conducted by Rev. J. P. Blackledge, assisted by Rev. J. O. Forseman, who had been his pastor when he was a boy. Burial in Garfield Cemetery. He was followed to his last resting place by a host of friends from all parts of Morris county, who wished to pay the last mark of regard and esteem to one well know and respected whose earthly course was cut off in the prime of his manhood.
