John R. "Bob" Paugh

Well known cattleman and feed store operator, John R. "Bob" Paugh, 75, Carthage, Mo., passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010, at St. Luke's Nursing Center, Carthage, after a brief illness.
John R. "Bob" Paugh was born July 8, 1934, in Jasper County, Mo., the son of Clarence Alonzo "Cap" Paugh and Alta (Hunt) Paugh.
He attended Carthage Public Schools, where he was a graduate of Carthage High School, class of 1952.
He married Lila Kilpatrick on Easter, April 18, 1954, in Avilla, Mo.
Bob was a cattleman living east of Carthage, before moving to Carthage, 17 years ago.
He and his sons owned and operated the Airport Feed Store.
He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Carthage, an eight-year member of the Naval Reserve, Joplin, and was active in feed sales with the Ralston Purina Company.
Bob was an avid gardener and loved to work in his yard.
Survivors include his wife, Lila, of the home; two sons, Robert Steven "Steve" (Marilyn) Paugh, Katy, Texas, and John Michael "Mike" Paugh, Carthage; one sister, Sue (Gary) Miller, Hunnington Beach, Calif.; three grandchildren, Eric Paugh, College Station, Texas, Mark Paugh, Fayetteville, Ark., and Alex Paugh, Katy; and one great-granddaughter, Lydia Grace Paugh, Fayetteville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jack and Joe Paugh.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fasken Cemetery, northeast of Carthage.
Rev. John Davidson, First Baptist Church, Carthage, will officiate. Memorial gifts are suggested to Highland Chapel/Christian School, Miller, Mo., in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut, Carthage, MO 64836. Online condolences may be made to www.knellmortuary.com
