Adam W. Britain Sr. Dies; Was Retired County Farmer
Adam Walker Britain Sr., 84. retired Dallas county farmer, died Saturday in a Dallas hospital. He lived at 1507 Westmoreland.
He was born Jan. 31, 1867 in a farmhouse on Five-Mile Road, just off Hampton Road, near the Five Mile Cemetery where he will be buried Monday.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Monday at Western Heights Church of Christ, 1912 North Winnetka. Robert H. Beeman, minister, will officiate, assisted by Billie Craig.
Except for a short time in Vernon, Britain had lived In Dallas County all his life. He farmed near his Westmoreland address and once ran a grocery store and post office at Hale Station, now the intersection of Westmoreland and Clarendon.
He was a member of the Hall Century Club and was a charter member and elder of the Western Heights Church of Christ.
Britain's survivors include his wife. Mrs. May Britain; three daughters. Mrs. Ruth Britain, Mrs. Eula Sheridan and Mrs. Clyde Gibson. all of Dallas; a son, Adam Walker Britain Jr. of Harlingen; two brothers. O. H. Britain of Dallas and K C. Britain of Amarillo; ten Grandsons and six great-grand-sons. (Dallas Morning News, 22 Jun 1951
