Chillicothe has had occasion to mourn the death of Elizabeth B. Reed, wife of Thomas L. Reed which occurred last Thursday morning, March 13, at St, Francis hospital in Peoria.
Death was attributed to burns sustained when their farm home was destroyed by flames Wednesday of last week.
Elizabeth Burns was the daughter of George and Agnes Burns, residents of Blue Ridge in which community the deceased grew to womanhood.
The aim of her childhood, to become a teacher, was realized after graduating from the district school at Blue Ridge and attending college at Normal, Ill. For many years she was employed as instructor in Peoria county schools. She was employed in that capacity in Medina township for seventeen years.
She was united in marriage to Thomas L. Reed, July 12, 1894.
Funeral services were conducted from the Blue Ridge church Saturday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock. Burial was in the adjacent cemetery.
Mrs. Reed leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Thomas L. Reed, one son, Hiram; three sisters, Jennie Burns of Bartonville, Mrs. Justin O'Dell of Galesburg and Mrs. Earl Stephens of Redwood City, California and two brothers, Adam of Detroit, Mich., and William of North Hampton.
A sister, Mrs. John Gallup passed away about two months ago and two sisters died in infancy.
