(Edited) Excerpt from the The Jena Times, July 9, 1931:

Edd Terrell Dies From Accidental Gunshot Wound

Funeral Services held in Grant Parish yesterday afternoon.

Edd Terrell, 29 years old was found in a a dying condition at his home in the Eden comunity, 6 miles west of Jena at 5:30 Tuesday Afternoon, surrering from a pistol wound which a coroners jury later pronounced accidental.
The theory reported to have been arrived at by Coroner Hamilton and his jury is that Terrell went to a cedar chest to get some article, presumably a towel. Is is thought that a pistol, in a scabbard, was perhaps on top of the article wanted, or in the way and that the weapon was picked up by the barrell end of the scabbard and the gun slipped out, striking the hammar on the edge of the chest and caused it to discharge. ((Note: description of the actual wound has been removed from this excerpt)). The missle was found on the floor.
The deceased is the son-in-law of Mr. J. M Coleman, of Pollock. He is survived by a widow (Edith Terrell) and two children, a son 5 and a daughter 3.
The body was taken to Grant Parish for funeral services and burial on Wednesday.
((names of the coroners jury has been removed from this excerpt))
