Mr. Ballantyne was born May 30, 1876 at Corning, Ia., the eldest son of John D. and Hester D. Ballantyne. On Nov. 6, 1899, in Corning, he married Mabel H. Taylor. They came to Bozeman in March 1904 and resided six miles southwest of here until 1928 when the family moved to the Springhill community. He had resided at Springhill continuously since then. He was a member of the Christian Church and had been a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge for 33 years.
Surviving relatives are the widow, Mrs. Mabel A. Ballantyne; two sons, Verne H. Ballantyne and John D. Ballantyne; a daughter, Ruth N. Ballantyne; a brother, Harry D. Ballantyne of Livingston; a sister, Mrs. Nettie VanHouten of Corning, Ia.; a niece, Mrs. Herbert Lang of Butte; a cousin, Leon D. Ballantyne of Willow Creek, and several nieces and nephews in Iowa.
Funeral rites are to be held here Tuesday afternoon.
