Husband of Hollie B. (Clark) Semple (1873-1964). Son of Lemuel E. Semple and Sarah Emily (Ludwick) Semple. Father of three girls. Harry's father fought in the Union Cavalry during the Civil War. When Harry was just six months old, Jesse James and his gang rode into town in Corydon, Iowa and robbed the local bank. Harry was an intertype operator for the Oskaloosa Herald company for many years. He had also worked for the newspapers in Beaumont, Texas, Pasadena, California and Los Angeles, California. Harry was loved very much by his family and in-laws. So much so that his sister-in-law, Bertha, named one of her sons after him.
