Professor G. A. Lewellen, professor of Bible history at the Texas Christian University, Ft. Worth, died at his home on Jan. 4. Prof. Lewellen was born in Mississippi in 1863. He graduated from Transylvania College of Kentucky in 1885, receiving his A. B. Degree. In 1889 he was elected president of the West Tennessee Christian College, serving in that capacity until 1893. From 1893 until 1903 he occupied the president's chair of Bellevue College of Tennessee, and from 1903 to 1909 he was president of Texas Christian University. According to his grandson, the daughter of G. A. Lewellen changed the family name to Llewellyn and updated the grave markers to reflect the change.
