John was in the insurance business for over 50 years and ran his own company for the past 36 years. He earned his CLU in 1966 and attended Bellarmine College, was a veteran of the Korean War and graduated from Fern Creek High School.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Horan Schneider;
father, Joseph Henry Schneider Sr.;
brother, Boots Schneider.
He was always grateful for the loving care from his grandmother, Elizabeth Hilbert Schneider.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ward Schneider;
daughters Sheryl Sprawls (Robert), Sharon Schneider and Mary Beth Schneider (Joe Brownfield);
grandchildren, Sydney and Sam Sprawls and Warner and Elizabeth Brownfield; and
brother, Joseph Schneider, Jr.
John never met a stranger. He thoroughly enjoyed his family and friends - both new and old. He was a charter member of both Hurstbourne Country Club and the Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners. John was an avid golfer and expert gin player.
The visitation for Mr. Schneider will be held at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road on Tuesday, from 3-9 p.m. His funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Frances of Rome, 2119 Payne St., with burial at Cave Hill Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor or Mass of the Air.
