Obit: James Elmer Mahaffey, oldest son of James Arthur and Caldona Strow Mahaffey was born on a farm near Chester, Nebraska, February 8, 1899 and passed away Saturday December 15, 1962 at his home, at teh age of 63 years 10 months and 7 days. He was united in marriage to Pearl Lee on July 27, 1921. To this union was born three daughters. He was a good neighbor, kind husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Pearl, three daughters, (Audrey June) Mrs. Albert Radke of Fairmont, Nebraska; (Loetta May) Mrs. Walter Swanson of Springfield, Nebraska and (Nile Jean) Mrs. Floyd Buchelew of Ripon, Wisconsin, and seven grandchildren, Wanda Jean Mahaffey at home, Albert, James, and Richard Alan Radke, Jack Arlin Swanson, Charles Lee and Bruce Buchelew. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:00pm at the Montgomery-Tibbetts-Cotter Chapel with Rev. Wm. H. Doran officiating. Paul Harmon sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Beautiful isle of Somewhere" Pallbearers were neighbors of the deceased, Harley Priefert, Carl Nystrom, Rudolph Nystrom, Edward Hergott, Robert Polage, and Herbert Marsh. Interment was in the Belvidere Cemetery.
