Bernice Lucille Polley was born Nov. 4, 1917, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of John and Theresa Holtgraver Polley. She graduated from Topeka High School. She married Walter F. Luttrell on March 12, 1938, at Oskaloosa. For more than 50 years, she and her husband, Walter, owned and operated Sudden Service Cafe at 509 S.E. Quincy street, and Luttrell's Fine Foods at 119 S.E. 6th street. Around town, she was known as the "Coconut Pie Queen." She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Topeka Chapter No. 462; VFW Auxiliary No. 1650; the American Legion Auxiliary and Women of the Moose No. 1091. Survivors included a son, Donald E. Luttrell. He died June 26, 2021.
