Benjamin Franklin Manning born 1832 in Italy, Yates, New York son of William Manning, 1796-1884 and Frances "Fanny" Manning, 1802-1884.

He married 29 Apr 1853 at Italy, Yates, NY to Electa Lucretia Wood, 1834-1899, daughter of Levi S Wood, 1800-1851 and Sarah Fox, 1794-1883.

He is the father of five children: William Henry Manning, 1853-1914, Levi A Manning 1855-1877, Franklin Melville Manning, 1858-1938, Sarah Jane "Jennie" Manning Smith 1861-1919 and Eula 1863-1867.

He enlisted 5 Jan 1864 at Wayland, Steuben, NY as Private in Company A - NY 14th Heavy Artillery

Captured during battle 17 Jun 1864 Petersburg, Dinwiddie, Virginia

Died 25 Sep 1864 - Cause of Death - Scurvy - (Scofutus) Ill treatment
