MERIDEN – Lucy F. Luca, 86, wife of the late Joseph D. Luca, died peacefully, Friday, April 9, 2010, at Meriden Center after a brief illness.

Born Aug. 29, 1923, in Pratola, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Agata DiMattia Colaiacovo. She came to the United States in 1936 and has been a longtime resident of Meriden. Mrs. Luca retired from the International Silver Company. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, a member of the Mt. Carmel Society, and a member of various other organizations.

She is survived by three children, a daughter, Rosemary (Luca) Smith and husband, Theodore W. Smith Jr. of Waterbury; a son, Francis L. Luca and wife, Karen of Meriden; and a son, Dominic A. Luca and fiancée, Diane Lester. She is survived by several grandchildren, Ted and Anna Smith, Michele and David Flowers, Tracy Luca and Robert Conroy, Gregory Luca, Christopher and Carla Luca, Jennifer Smith Agosto, Bryan and Danielle Luca, Kevin and Stacy Luca, Steven Luca, Evan Luca, Alicia Piazza and Adam Piazza; and two great-grandchildren, Viola Flowers and Tyler Luca. She is also survived by two sisters, Gina Schreiner of Salem and Mary Frasco of Haverhill, N.H.; a niece; and a nephew.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 14, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
