OGDEN - Fred P. Wahlquist, 78, our loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004 in Ogden, Utah after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born September 11, 1926 in Ioka, Utah, a son of Charles Fred and Loreen Pack Wahlquist.

He served an LDS mission to the Western States Mission. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Air Force.

Fred married Helen Stowell on September 8, 1952 in the Logan LDS Temple. An active member of the LDS Church, he served on three separate occasions as a bishop, and held various other church callings. He served missions with his wife in Montreal, Canada, the Family History Center in Salt Lake City, and most recently in the Anchorage, Alaska Mission.

Fred graduated from the University of Idaho in 1956 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. His work assignments in the nuclear industry took him to Idaho, California, Connecticut and Washington State. He retired in 1990.

Surviving are his wife Helen and five sons, Gary (Junko), McKinney, *TX; Steven (Lita), Bremerton, WA; Dale (Linda), Idaho Falls, ID; Kendall (Marni), Benton City, WA; Dennis (Jena), Idaho Falls, ID, and 17 grandchildren.

Also surviving are his brothers, Charles (his twin), Bryan, Wayne, Glen, Earl and Brent.

Fred will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 13, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Forest Green Ward Chapel, 1401 Country Hills Dr., Ogden, with Bishop Jeffrey Booth officiating.

A viewing will be held at the Larkin & Sons Mortuary, 496 24th St, Ogden, Sunday, Dec. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the ward chapel Monday, from 9 to 9:45 a.m.

Interment will be in the Ammon, Idaho Cemetery, Monday at 4:00 p.m.

Donations may be made to the Huntsman Cancer Center in Salt Lake City, in Freds name.
