Ruby Alexander Sutphin, 88, HC02 Box 124 Allisonia, died Friday night, January 8, 1999 in the Eldercare Nursing Home, Hillsville. She was born in Virginia on June 21, 1910 and was the daughter of the late Charles Ingram Alexander & Francis Myers Alexander. She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Minnie Hanks Alexander, one sister and seven brothers. Surviving are her husband, James William Sutphin, Allisonia; daughter & son-in-law, Karen L. Morris & Robert James Morris, Sr., Allisonia; five sisters, Alta Smythers, Allisonia, Lora Akers, Narrows, Gertrude Holston, Dublin, Mercedes (Nancy) Harbin, Jonesboro, GA and Gailya Dillon, Peterstown, WV; five brothers, Lee Alexander, Draper, Nathaniel Alexander, Kent, OH, Atchley Alexander, Graham, NC, Clayborne Alexander, Max Meadows, Larry Alexander, Thomasville, NC; grandchildren & spouses, Sharon & Douglas Freeman, Hillsville, Robert and James Morris, Jr. & Johnni Morris, Dublin; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 pm from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Howard Brue and Rev Jim Alicy officiating. Burial will follow in the Farris Mines Christian Church Cemetery, Allisonia. Visiting will be Monday evening from Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8 pm. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
