Bernie was born on July 2, 1929 in Fairbury, Nebraska, and died in Boise, Idaho. He was the third son born to Earl L. Gano and Mable (Hubbard) Gano.
Bernie attended Fairbury schools and graduated from Fairbury with the class of 1948. He entered the United States Army and served in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he established his residence in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Bernie was employed by the Colorado Springs Parks Department until his retirement in 1986. He moved to Boise, Idaho in 2007 to be near family.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by two brothers, Leonard (Dolores) of McPherson, Kansas, and Dorrance (Jean) of Boise, Idaho; a nephew, Michael Gano of Boise, Idaho; a niece, Mary Morin of Boise, Idaho; three grand nieces, Dr. Heather Gano of Dallas, Texas; Tara Gano of Los Angeles, California, and Kellyn Osborn of Boise, Idaho; and a grand nephew, Scott Osborn of Boise, Idaho.
