ROBERT BRITTON HOOKS, 73, of 1484 Alcy, retired U.S. Postal Service supervisor, died Friday at Methodist Hospital South after a short illness. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Middle Baptist Church on Lamar with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery Midtown. T. H. Hayes & Sons Funeral Home has charge. He was a member of the board of deacons of Middle Baptist Church and a member of the Knights of Pythias. He leaves his wife, Earnestine Knight Hooks; three daughters, Mrs. Carole Hooks Higgs and Mrs. Carolynn Ann Phillips, both of Memphis, and Mrs. Patricia Hooks Gray of Cincinnati; six sons, Robert Britton Hooks III of Alexandria, Va., Walter Hooks of Germany, Ronald Hooks of New Orleans, and Frederick Hooks, Benny Hooks and Barry Hooks, all of Memphis; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Hooks Gordon, Mrs. Mildred Hooks Gillis and Miss Bessie J. Hooks, all of Memphis; two brothers, Rev. Benjamin L. Hooks and Raymond Hooks, both of Memphis, eight grandchildren and a great-grandson. (Published in The Commercial Appeal 7/21/1990)
