Harry R. Roman, 69, of Ramsey, N.J., formerly of Francis Mine, died Saturday, February 6, 2010, in his home.

He was born October 13, 1940, in Bertha Mine, a son of Jessie A. Yensull Roman of Francis Mine and the late Steve Roman Jr.

Prior to retirement, he was employed by Western Union in Upper Saddle River, N.J., and Channell Homes.

He served as a radioman, second class, and was a shellback in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1967, serving three tours in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, two Good Conduct Awards, Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars and Vietnam Campaign Medal with device.

Mr. Roman was an avid reader and had read the Bible eight times completely.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are a brother, Steven (Tim) Roman of Francis Mine; a sister, Frances Roman of Francis Mine; a nephew, Xavier F. Casto; and a niece, Timothea A. Roman.

Visitation and services were held February 17 in Taucher Funeral Home, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown. Interment was held in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Full military honors were accorded by Bert C. Ciders Post 643 American Legion, Avella. Page: B4
