ALEXANDRIA, INDIANA-Lloyd G. Frix, 71, Alexandria died Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the Alexandria Care Center in Alexandria following an extended illness.
He was born September 12, 1934 in Alexandria to Lloyd W. "Skeet" and Nancy Savage Frix and has lived in Alexandria all of his lifetime.
He was a graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1953. Lloyd lettered in football, basketball and track in high school. His Alexandria Tiger basketball team won the Anderson Sectional in the 1952-53 season. As a football letterman, he was chosen as an All Central Indiana Conference backfield player and was named as a member of the Northern Indiana All-Star football team. He attended Anderson College, Anderson, Indiana from 1953 -1955. He played football for Anderson College and was one of 3 players named to the All-Hoosier College Conference team during that time.
Lloyd served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. He was involved in the operation of Frix & Son trucking for 40 years. Lloyd was well known in the area for his unwavering strength and his ability to move heavy items.
Lloyd retired from Delco-Remy, formerly of Anderson, as supervisor in the production part of shipping on March 1, 1993 after 30 years of employment.
He was a 53 year member of the First Baptist Church of Alexandria. He was active in the JOY Class, serving as class president for several years. He has held many offices in the church including Chairman of the Board of Deacons. Lloyd was always impressed with Evangelist Billy Graham and considered himself fortunate to be able to work the Graham Crusade held at Indianapolis in the RCA Dome June 3-6, 1999, where Lloyd got to personally meet Rev. Graham.
He was a longtime member of the Alexandria Yule Golf Club and the Cicero Watercraft Association. His interests included traveling, golf, fishing and hunting. Lloyd was a sports enthusiast and was a fan of IU Basketball, the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers.
Lloyd was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandpa. To many he was a true, loyal friend, a very trustworthy and loving person. Lloyd was physically a big man and he had a big heart to match. His winning and warm smile will be greatly missed but fondly remembered.

A Service of Celebration honoring Lloyd's life and home going will take place on Wednesday-August 16, 2006 at 1PM in the First Baptist Church, 2107 South Park Avenue (State Road 9) Alexandria with Pastor Cliff Richardson and Rev. Kent Modlin officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria with military honors provided by Elwood VFW-Post 5782.
Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria on Tuesday from 3 PM to 8 PM or at the church one hour preceding the services on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church through the funeral home.
