Donald Joseph Kohorst was born to Frank and Ethel (Harris) Kohorst on September 9, 1917.

After his mother's death, he and his 10 other siblings were sent to live with relatives while his father supported them. Donald lived in the Irish Hills area of Michigan, near Brooklyn and helped farm the land.

Donald returned to Delphos and married Gisela Julia Schla.tman, daughter of Frederick Christopher and Martha Marie Rose (Jaccou) Schlatman.

Their only child, Sandra, was born to them in 1958.

Donald worked for Ohio Steel Foundary in Lima, starting as a molder and working his way up to head of the production office. He was a hard worker and highly respected by both his employer John Galvin and his co-workers.

He was active at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Delphos. Donald was also an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. He encouraged the love of music in his daughter and often played either banjo, violin or mandolin along at her side while she played accordion.

He was loved by son-in-law Jim and had moved to Ottawa IL to be near his daughter and son-in-law. He died August 8, 1987 in Ottawa.

Donald was an inspiration to many with his love for God and his dedication to his family, his kind and gentle manner.
