Maynard H. Ackerman age 81 of St. John, IN; formerly of Colorado Springs and Arvada, CO went home to be with his Lord on Monday, April 12, 2010.

He was a "man of God" who grew in his faith especially in the last years of his life. His love of the Word of God was a source of great comfort and peace to him. He was so thankful for the truth of the Gospel and the hope it provided.

It would be his wish for all to search the Scriptures and find the same peace he did.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Doris Ackerman (nee Mahan), two children Cheryl (Dennis) Harvey, Scott (Robin) Ackerman, three grandchildren Amy (Brian) Frahm, Allyson (Adam) McKown, Gabriel Foss, one grandson on the way and three great grandchildren.

Brothers and sisters Mary Ellen (Jack) Sumpter, Larry (Nadine) Ackermann, Richard (Helen) Ackermann and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Anton & Emilie Ackermann and brother Kendall Ackermann.

A celebration of Maynard's reuniting with the Lord and his loved ones was held on Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home in St. John, IN.

Maynard was a WWII Army veteran and a precision machinist for Rockwell International in Golden, CO. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. www.fagenmiller.com
