OBIT: Death Calls Mrs. Rebecca Fling Tuesday - Widow of Late John W. Fling Sr. Dies at Home After Protracted Illness Following Fall. Mrs. Rebecca Ellen Fling, 88-year old widow of the late John W. Fling Sr., died Tuesday afternoon at 2 p. m. in her Wyoming home. Death came as a result of complication brought on by a fall in her home January 2. Mrs. Fling's health failed steadily since that time. Funeral service will be held at the Cox memorial home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Fling and her husband, who died last November 24, had resided in Stark county since 1885 and in Wyoming more than 53 years. Born on a farm near Indianapolis, Id., April 26, 1858, she was one of twelve children of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Bolander. She was married to the late John Wesley Fling on Jan. 25, 1877 at Bridgeport, Indiana and they would have celebrated their sixty-ninth wedding anniversary had they both lived. Immediate surviving relatives are a daughter, Mrs. Naomi Newel, whom lives in the parental home and who cared for father and mother in their declining years and three sons, John W. Fling Jr. and LeRoy E. Fling both of Wyoming and Frank M. Fling of Liberal, Kansas. She is survived by three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Fling moved to Illinois in 1884 and settled on a farm near Princeville and the following year moved to Duncan. The family moved to Wyoming in December, 1892. She has been a member of the Wyoming Methodist church since 1893 and was the oldest member of the Woman's Society for Christian Service, formerly the Ladies' Aid society of the church. Mr. Fling took much satisfaction in performing services for others and was never more happy than when she could be doing a good deed for a neighbor. The Rev. C. H. Nicholas, pastor of the Wyoming Methodist church will conduct the funeral services Thursday afternoon and will be assisted by the Rev. A. A. Finders, pastor of the Free Methodist church. Interment will be in the Wyoming cemetery.
