Obituary: HAMBRICK, James - [from Walnut Hill] James Hambrick was born in Jefferson Co., Tenn. June 10, 1830 and died at Garfield , Ark., May 18, 1915, Had he lived 23 more days he would have been 85 years old. He was three times married, twice in Tennessee and once in Arkansas. His first wife was Miss Lucinda Richard and to this union was born ten children. The second wife was Mrs. Caroline Royster and to this union was born 4 children. The third wife was Mrs. Anna Hale, who survives him. His 14 children nearly all reached mature age yet he outlived all except one son, J. R. Hambrick of Westville, Okla. who is now nearly 66 years of age. Besides this large family he raised two sets of step-children. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for 60 years and a resident of Benton county 40 years. He was a man with a generous disposition and we never heard of a traveler being turned away from his door unfed or unbedded. He probably did as much hard manual labor as any man in our county. His health had been failing for the last three years and for the last seven months and two days he has been confined solely to his bed. He ws laid to rest in the Walnut Hill cemetery Wednesday afternoon, Elder Clark Bland of Larue being called to attend the service. The community extends its sympathy to the bereaved wife and to the son, who arrived Tuesday night to pay the last tribute of respect to his aged father. [Rogers Democrat 5/20/15]
