United States Civil War Veteran Private John "Pop" Miller, Company E 35th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, 6th Pennsylvania Reserves was killed in action at the Battle of Bethesda Church, Mechanicsville Virginia, on May 30th 1864. His three year term of service would have ended on June 1,1864. He left behind his wife, Elizabeth Miller (Fox) and children Mary Elizabeth Miller Lewis and William T. Miller.
