Memaw didn't remember much about her Daddy. She was only 8 when he was killed. He was a cotton farmer. His clothing became caught in the cotton gin and he was pulled through to his death. She remembered all the people at the house and after everyone left, she and the brothers and sister with Grandmother went to the grave alone. Memaw said they were surprised to find a wreath that hadn't been there before. Flowers in the form of "KKK". Seems there was a dark secrert that even his family didn't know. That might explain why Grandmother packed her kids up and moved to Fort Worth. Memaw only had one photo of her Daddy. The photo was of the whole family standing out in a cotton field. It was torn and faded, kept in a very safe place. She brought it out one day when I took here to lunch. I had never seen it before. She trusted it to me and I had copies made and enlarged it for her. She was really happy. Funny seeing your Grandmother as an eight year old child.
