Husband of Larue L. YOUNG; s/o James Abraham BRUCE and Margaret Lavada JOHNSONMr. Bruce first joined the United States Marine Corps in May of 1934. During his enlistment he was awarded the Marine Corps Good Conduct medal, the Rifle Marksman Badge, the Pistol Sharpshooter Badge and the Bayonet Expert Badge. He was honorable discharged in May of 1938. In August of 1938 He joined the United States Army and served the Army until April of 1947, making him a World War II veteran. In April of 1947, one day after his discharge from the Army, he reelisted in the United States Air Force and served until 1954, eventually retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was also awarded the American Theater Campaign medal, the World War II Victory medal with service lapel botton, the American Defense Campaign medal, the Army Good Conduct medal with 4 reenlistment loops, the Army of Occupation medal with Japan Clasp, the National Defense Service medal, and the Army Marksman Badge with Carbine Bar.
