His wife, Eliza Bruce, who states DOB as April 17, 1841, has a CSA pension application on line in the GA Archives under Bartow County. She says her husband, M. V. Bruce Enlisted in Oct 1864 and served with Co. D, Simmons' Battalion, GA Vols. He was thrown by a horse in Athens, GA and injured so that he was disabled from then on.
