CHAPIN — A memorial service for Gloria Beth Baker-Edgar, of Chapin, will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2008, at Caughman Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008, in Lancaster Memorial Park, Lancaster, SC. Family and friends who wish to share your special memories at either the memorial or graveside service are encouraged to do so.

Ms. Baker was born August 28, 1942, in Lancaster, SC, to Belle H. Hinson and James B. Baker. She died Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at her Chapin home after a long battle with pulmonary disease.

Ms. Baker was a retired senior sales executive and consultant with Citicorp Information Resources and FiServ, providers of technology solutions for financial institutions. She was a devoted Clemson University supporter and enjoyed attending Tiger football games and especially enjoyed motor home trips to bowl games with her family and friends. She was a lifelong Baptist. Ms. Baker was a spiritual person who endeavored to live by "The Golden Rule" -which simply means "treat others as you would like to be treated."

Survivors are her precious mother, Belle and stepfather, Myron "Mike" Schafer along with her stepbrother Gary and stepsisters, Cindy, Sally and Patty; her beloved brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Vickie Baker and their two daughters, Kimberly (William), Khristy (Joey) and their son Cody; her former husband and father of their three children; sons, L. Dean Edgar and Damon Scott Edgar; daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Doyle McBride; her namesake granddaughter, Caroline Beth Edgar and a grandson, Hawkins Davis; as well as many special aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and numerous cherished and well-loved friends.

Gloria was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter, Savannah Belle Edgar, who passed away March 31, 2007, at the age of 18, an innocent victim of a drunken driver failing to stop for a red light. Her GG looks forward with great joy to being reunited with sweet Savannah in heaven.

A lover and protector of animals, Gloria requested that memorials be made to your local animal shelter, The SPCA or the Adopt-a-Pet Agency in memory of her beloved poodle companion, Dixie.
