Funeral services for Mrs. Willie E. Casey were held on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at 2:00p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Rev. Gary House and Bro. Paul Pryor officiated. Interment followed the services at Driver Cemetery.
Mrs. Casey passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2009, surrounded by her family at her residence in Teague. She was born in Dublin, Texas on December 29, 1906, to Josi Edward and Alberta Maurine Lively Raines. She married Walter Howard Casey in 1921 and shared some sixty-four years together until being separated by his death in 1985. "Maw" was a loving mother, grandmother, dedicated homemaker and she was the oldest living resident of Teague. Mrs. Casey was a member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague. She is survived by one son, Edward Howard Casey of El Campo; one daughter Johnnie Walker of Teague; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; thirty-eight great-great grandchildren; three great-great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Blackman and Mary Jo Spurlock both of Woodville; one brother, Edward R. (Buddy) Raines of Woodsboro; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends. Mrs. Casey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Howard Casey; two daughters, Sallie Ruth Morton and Martha Sue Jones; five sisters; and two step-brothers.
