Mary Alice Ruggles, seventy years of age, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ertzinger, 849 E. Market street at 5 o'clock. She had been ill four years but only serious about twenty minutes.
Mrs. Ruggles was born November 2, 1851 near Richmond, Ind., the daughter of Jesse and Hattie Bond. She came to this county with her parents when nine years old and settled in Jefferson township. Her marriage was to Robert Ruggles July 11, 1867. Four daughters were born to them, two of whom are deceased. Mrs. Corah Garwood of Union township and Mrs. Anna Ertzinger of this city survive. Also surviving are four grand children, nine great grand children, one brother, Lindsey Bond near Ft. Wayne and a sister, Mrs. Anna Robinson of Ft. Wayne.
The deceased had lived fifty years of her life in Mt. Etna but since the death of her husband four years ago, she had been living with her children. The body was taken to Mt. Etna where it will lie in state Thursday.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Weslyan M. E. church at Mt. Etna of which she was a member. Rev. Mow and Rev. Hawkins will officiate. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Mt. Etna. It was announced that the casket would not be opened at the church.
RUGGLES FUNERAL...Funeral services for Mary Alice Ruggles were held at the Weslyn M. E. church at Mt. tna Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Arnold, Rev. Mow and Rev. McKinley officiated. Music was furnished by H. M. Coulter, Mrs. Frank Pinkerton. Mrs. Orpha Harland and C. W. Frantz. Mrs. C. W. Frantz accompanied on the organ. The flowers were in charge of Sarah Buzzard and Malinda Marshall. The pall bearers were Enos Garwood, Loren Burris, Louis Ertzinger, Isaiah Garwood, Elli Wiles and Mat Rogers. Burial was at the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Mt. Etna....Herald Press-Huntington, Indiana
