Marie-Elisabette was the daughter of Pierre-Antoine & Marie-Angelique Chamberlain Plourde. On 29 December 1873, she married Ambrose Gideon Griffitts.

They were the parents of 20 children-Chester, Curtis, Louis, Marguerite, Mary Adela (McAfee), Clarence Harvey, William Luke, Luke Anthony, James Richard, Stella Elisabeth (Inlow/Enlow), Leona Mae (Miller), Belle, Mamie Augusta (Railey), Harvey, Hubert Oscar, Claude Richard, Edgar, Lawrence Grover, Arthur Robert, and Onandas Grace (Chamberlain).
