Linda Marie Phillips was born December 5, 1951 in Camden, Ark., to the late Mack and Corene Phillips. At an early age, she joined church at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, East Camden, Ark.

She departed this life on September 14, 2001 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Little Rock, Ark.

She was united in holy matrimony to Mackie Phillips on December 29, 1971.

She became a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church in the late 1970's. While there, she served as church secretary and director of youth, and served on various church committees.

She retired as a teacher from the Stuttgart Public Schools in 1999. She was called into the ministry in 1999, and delivered her first sermon on March 2, 2001 at Providence Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Mackie Phillips, one son, Shaun Phillips of Jacksonville, FL (U.S.Navy), one daughter, Amber Phillips Purcell, one granddaughter, LaShay Denise Phillips, two grandsons, Ivan Woods and Anthony Woods; four brothers, Grady (Tina) Phillips, George (Shirley) Phillips, Eluster Phillips, and Brady Phillips; one sister, Dr. Silverene Roundtree; three uncles, Kenni (Estell) Langford, Fred (Ester) Langford, and George (Callie) Langford; three aunts, Ula Mae Broadnax, Josephine (Sylvester) Smith and Lola Mae Wright; a great aunt, Addie Lee Bell, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special sister-in-law, Deborah Phillips.
