Thomas S. McManus
GREENWOOD, Nov. 14 - Thomas Samuel McManus. 72, died at Self Memorial Hospital at 2:20 p.m. Friday after an illness of three weeks.
Mr. McManus was a life-long resident of Greenwood County, a son of John Franklin and Sally Hollingsworth McManus. He had been engaged in farming for most of his life but for the past four years had been employed at the Greenwood Manufacturing plant. He was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. McManus was married three times, first to Mrs. Maggie Hamilton McManus, who died in 1924. From this union survive four sons, Karl McManus, Otto McManus, (both of Greenwood), Huey McManus, Granite Falls, N. C, and Howard McManus, Greenwood; three daughters, Mrs. Viola Shay, Hodges, Mrs. Odell McGrath and Mrs. Sara Scott, both of Greenwood.
His second marriage was to Mrs. Nell Lannings McManus of Hendersonville, N. C, who died in 1944. His third wife, Mrs. Alice Redden McManus, survives. Also surviving are one brother, J. N. McManus, six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be con¬ducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Blyths Funeral Home by the Rev. A. D. Croft, the Rev. Troy Godwin and Dr. J. F. Lupo. Burial will be in Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Ethride. Maxie McManus, John Haitiwanger, Luther King, Fred McManus, Carl Redden, Wofford Anderson and Hazel Anderson.
The honorary escort will include P. B. Callison, H.E. Freeland, Otis McManus, Fairey Adams, C. C. Amos, Broadus Havard, Arch Milling, Johnnie Carter, Paul Hughes, and Henry Hollingsworth.
