Tuolumne County native Alan Gardner, 33, died suddenly yesterday at a Sonora hospital. Mr. Gardner was born and raised in Sonora and remained here most of his life. A 1980 graduate of Sonora High School, he worked as a loader operator at Fiberboard, now Sierra Pacific Industries, for 10 years. "He was a devoted family man who loved to be with his wife and kids," said his wife, Karen. "He was loved dearly and will be missed." In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, David Murray Gardner, Daniel Alan Gardner, and Shalynn Jean Gardner, all of Sonora; his parents, Gerald and Frances Gardner of Sonora; his grandmother, Nina Azevedo of Modesto; his mother-in-law, Jean Murray of Sonora; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Warren and Yvonne Gardner, and Darryl Scott "Scott" and Rebecca Gardner, all of Sonora; one niece; five nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his brother, Rusty Gardner, in 1965... A memorial fund for Mr. Gardner's children has been established at El Capitan Bank. Remembrances may be sent to P.O.
