William V. Platt,74,Morris, died early today, Dec 21, 1989, in St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born May 31, 1915, in Morris, he was a son of William Sherman and Mildred (VanZandt) Platt.
Educated in Morris schools, he graduated from Morris High School.
On April 2, 1938, he married Ardith Olson in Morris. He was employed with Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet for 28 years before retiring in 1980.
Surviving are a daughter; a son; seven grandchildren; one brother Versal Platt of Sheridan; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife in 1987, and a son, David in 1975.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the U.C. Davis and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Merle Hall officiating. Burial will be in Seward Mound cemetery, Minooka.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
