First judge of Boyd County; served in Kentucky State Legislature. Farmed at the "home place" and additional properties around Kentucky, including iron furnaces. He was a kind, generous man with a large family who opened their arms and home to others. The home frequently included other displaced relatives, orphans, and friends. On a larger scale, displaced persons camped on his lands during the Civil War.

Note: as of 24 November 2011, memorials of all his children are on Find A Grave and linked to their parents.
