Obit in The Correctionville News, 1 January 1992, page 3: Eldon Blenner of Holstein died early Friday morning, December 20, 1991, at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services were held Monday, December 23, in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Holstein with Rev. Marilyn Hansen and Intern Pastor Steve Mehl officiating. Pallbearers were Clifford Weise, Lowell Albers, Robert Dittmer, Wendell Rolfs, Lloyd Shlinz, Jim Werner, Harold Freeze and Alvin Kay. Interment was in the Holstein Cemetery under direction of Barker-Ritchie Funeral Home, with flag presentation by Dessel-Schmidt American Legion Post #225, Holstein, Iowa. Eldon Dale Blenner, son of William and Lillian (Helkenn) Blenner, was born August 4, 1933, in Holstein, Iowa. He attended rural school and graduated from Holstein High School in 1951. Following graduation, he worked various jobs until the spring of 1953 when he joined the U.S. Army. He served in Korea, Okinawa and Iwo Jima. He returned from the service February 14, 1955, and took farm school courses in Aurelia in 1955-56. On June 12, 1955, he married Barbara Lewis at Anthon. They began farming the Blenner home place and became parents to five children. Eldon served as 4-H leader for ten years and was custodian for a short time of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he was a life-long member. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Holstein, five children, Mrs. Rick (Pamela) Westphal, Jerry (Teresa) Blenner, Tim (Kim) Blenner, Robert (Joni) Blenner, and Ann Blenner. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Lillian Blenner, sister, Mrs. Arnold (Diane) Endahl, eight grandchildren, and his mother-in-law, Pearl Lewis. He was preceded by his father, William Blenner and grandson, Jason Blenner.
