Rudolph L. Schraufnagel, 87, of W3029 County Road Y, Lomira, Wis., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, with his wife by his side.

Rudy was born the son of Linus and Regula (Oechsner) Schraufnagel on Oct. 21, 1922.

Rudy was united in marriage to Mary Carrollo on Oct. 10, 1942, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, LeRoy.

He was first employed at Capelli construction and then worked for Frey Construction in Hartford, as a mason. Rudy then worked for the Michels Corporation for 35-plus years and was a very devoted employee.

Rudy was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy.

He also served our country in the Army from 1943 until 1946, when he earned a medal for good conduct.

He was a former member of the Lomira American Legion Post 347; and a former member of the Brownsville Lions Club.

Rudy is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Mary; two sisters, Leonore (Frances) Wild of Kekoskee and Kathleen (Roger) Luehring of Mayville; two brothers, Linus (Mae) Schraufnagel of Mayville and Clarence (Aurelia) Schraufnagel of Mayville; and special family friends, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Gassner and family. He was further survived by many loving and caring nieces and nephews; and many close and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, James, on Jan. 1, 1961; and three sisters, Adeline Johnson, Corrine Wendling and Mabel Schnaderbeck.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, LeRoy, Wis., with the Rev. Fr. Tom Biersack and Fr. Robert Berghammer presiding.

Visitation: A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. q13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, and also on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Andrew Cemetery, LeRoy, with graveside military rites conducted by the Lomira American Legion Post 347.
