Mrs. Orpha Hickle, aged 64 years wife of Isaac Hickel of Frankfort and a former resident of near Clarkbsurg was found drowned in a cistern at her home at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The cistern was under the kitchen of her home and access was gained through a trap door in the floor. No persons were about the home when the accident occurred presumably about 2 or 3 o'clock in the afternoon and her body was not discovered until 5 p.m.
She was the daughter of Ira and Caroline Stephens and was born near Clarksburg on April 25, 1867. She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Ralph Whaley of Frankfort; three brothers Job, Charles and Lyman Stephens of Clarkburg; three sisters, Mrs. William Brown, Mrs. Rinda Adams, and Mrs. Frank Anderson of Clarksburg.
Mrs. Hickle was a member of the M.E. church in Frankfort where funeral services were held Friday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Weed officiating. Burial at Frankfort by Metzger and Fisher.

Womam Found Dead in Cistern at Frankfort
Mrs. Orpha Hickle, aged 64 years wife of Isaac Hickel of Frankfort and a former resident of near Clarkbsurg was found drowned in a cistern at her home at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The cistern was under the kitchen of her home and access was gained through a trap door in the floor. It is presumed that Mrs. Hickle had made an attempt to measure the depth of water in the cistern and losing her balance had fallen into the water. No persons were about the home when the accident occurred presumably about 2 or 3 o'clock in the afternoon and her body was not discovered until 5 p.m.
She was the daughter of Ira and Caroline Stephens and was born near Clarksburg on April 25, 1867. She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Ralph Whaley of Frankfort; three brothers Job, Charles and Lyman Stephens of Clarkburg; three sisters, Mrs. William Brown, Mrs. Rinda Adams, and Mrs. Frank Anderson of Clarksburg.
