Ballard Russell Hughes, 78, of Midway died May 1, 1998, in Hilltop Health Care Center after a long illness. He was a mechanic and a Baptist.
Russell, as he was known was well liked by everyone. He was a special person. Although polio had handicapped him somewhat he was always willing to help anyone he could.
Surviving: sisters, Mary Young of Middletown, Ohio, Nellie Lilly of Beaver, June Adkins of Midway; nephews, Anthony Williams of Midway, Joe Adkins of Midway, with whom he made his home. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Williams-Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Sophia, with the Rev. Larry Penix officiating. Burial will be in Pemberton Family Cemetery, Pemberton.
