GUILFORD, Thelma P. (Stevens) Stone Bates, 92, wife of Earl Bates, died peacefully November 26, 2006 at her home in Guilford. She was born March 17, 1914 in Parkman, daughter of Ralph and Sylvia (Buzzell) Stevens. She worked for several years at Pride Manufacturing Company and for 40 years at Hard Wood Products Company in Guilford. A five generation family, she is survived by two sons and their wives, Frank "Buz" and Rena Stone and Kenneth Malcolm and Betty Stone of Monson; 4 daughters and their husbands, Althea and Graham Young of York, Evelyn and Ansel Preble of Willimantic, Violet and Walter Noyes of Garland and Gloria and Delbert Spinney of Wells; grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Frank Preston Stone; four step-children, Lula, Walter, Maurice and Eva; a son, Wilber, a daughter, Virginia; three sisters and a brother; a granddaughter, Debra Jean, a great granddaughter, Melinda Sue Gerrish and a great grandson, Drake Martell.
