Sarah Ann Jennings Davenport was the widow of Ransom Davenport and an aunt of Samuel L., Mary and Jane Jennings, whose mother Ellen died while they were still young children. Sarah raised Samuel L. and Jane along with her own children. Another aunt, Callie Flinn (wife of Munroe Flinn) raised Mary. They all lived near Honea Path in Abbeville County as shown on 1880 Census.
Sarah was living with Samuel Jennings and his family in the Williamston area in 1910 (1910 census records). Samuel died in 1912.
A copy of Sarah's death certificate lists her father as J. J. Jennings, who lived in Laurens County 1850-1870 and had a daughter named Sarah Ann of the same age. No name is listed on the birth certificate for her mother, only that her mother was born in SC. However, an early census for J.J. Jennings shows his wife as Sarah, who was Sarah Rebecca High before her marriage to J.J. Jennings aka Jackson John Jennings . He married Ophelia Neighbors after the death of his wife Sarah.
