SAUQUOT - Joseph F. Roemer, 71, of Roberts Rd., Sauquoit, died Monday, February 9, 1981 in Faxton Hospital unexpectedly.
He was born in New York City, February 26, 1909, a son of the late William and Rose Shebler Roemer. He came to Utica as a young man and was a graduate of the Utica Free Academy. In 1931, in Utica, he married Ann Marsh. The couple have resided in Sauquoit for the past 17 years. For many years, he was employed at the Wonder Baking Co., and from 1957 until he retired in 1971, he worked for the New Hartford Central School District. Mr. Roemer was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member and past president of the Utica Municipal Softball Umpire's Association.
Besides his wife of Sauquoit, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Jo Ann) Philpotts of Sauquoit, Mrs. Charles (Patricia) Cliaquennoi of Manchester, N.Y., Mrs. Donna Lazarek of Chadwicks and Mrs. Wallace (Nancy) Rose of Clarkson, N.Y.; two sons, Daniel M. Roemer of Utica and Charles W. Roemer of Mohawk; one brother, Carl Roemer of New Haartford; 23 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and 3 nephews.
The funeral will be held on Thursday morning at 8:30 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St. and at 9:30 in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Chadwicks where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 Wednesday.
