Obituary published in the Big Spring Herald on August 3, 1962:

Mrs. Lucy Inez Barnard, 81, died about 10:15 a.m. Thursday at Glen Rose after an illness of about three years. She had lived in Big Spring from 1942 until two years ago, when she made her home with a son in Glen Rose.

She was born March 27, 1881 in Bell County. The family moved to the Knott Community in September, 1925 from Travis County where they farmed until 1942 when they moved to Big Spring. She married Henry Barnard, who preceded her in death in 1932.

Mrs. Barnard was a member of the Church of Christ.

Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Fourteenth and Main Church of Christ with Elbert R. Garretson, pastor of the Birdwell Lane Church of Christ, officiating. burial will be in City Cemetery under the direction of Nalley-Pickle Funeral Home.

Mrs. Barnard was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Johnny Barnard in 1942, and two daughters, Jannie Barnard in 1924, and Mrs. Gladys Camp in 1959.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Leona Lemons, Austin; four sons, Pinkney Barnard, Glen Rose, Chester Barnard, Midland, and Frank barnard and Easton Barnard, both of Big Spring; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Little, Abilene, and Mrs. Bessie Blackmon and Mrs. Mattie McClain, both of Austin; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for the service will be Abe Bailey, Ray Nichols, O.D. Kirby Jim McWhorter, Henry Hodges and Nathan Dalton.
