He retired from the City of Tallahassee after 35 years of service.
He was a member of Seminole Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 13.
Survivors include two sons, Wesley Sutton and John E. Sutton; a daughter, Susie Hodges; a brother Bobby Boatright; a sister, Margie Frohock.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Sutton Boatright; his stepfather, Charlie Rustin Boatright; his father Doc Sutton and a brother J. E. Sutton
