Jay Niemeyer and Helen Zurfluh were married May 12, 1928 and had a daughter Barbara in 1932. Jay was a coal mine foreman, a senior inspector for the Pa Turnpike Commission, and during the War years worked with the Nantahala Power & Light Co in Macon, NC. Around 1944 he was hired as a Superintendent by Alcoa at its mining and smelting operation in Bauxite, Arkansas. He died in New York City while under treatment for an illness of several months.
