David Odell Bridges, 35, of the Calhoun Falls Highway, died Monday night in the Elberton-Elbert County Hospital following six months of declining health and one week of serious illness. A native of Madison County, he had lived in Elbert County most of his life. He was a son of Lessie Davis Bridges and the late Garce Odell Bridges and a member of the Baptist faith. he was a Deputy Sheriff in the Elbert County Sheriff's Department.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Slay Bridges of the home; mother, Lessie Davis Bridges of Comer; sons, James Bridges and Mike Bridges of the home; daughters, Missy Bridges and Amy Bridges of the home; brother, Dennis Bridges of Comer; Sisters, Mrs Stewart Dove of Royston and Mrs Joseph Jarrett of Comer; maternal grandmother, Mrs Quilla G Bridges of Comer; maternal grandfather Grady Davis of Danielsville.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 21 at the Hicks Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating ministers will be Rev Mitchell Smith and Rev Boyce Reeves. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Charles Dickerson, Willie Hubbard, Charles Perlotte, Charles Starrett, Russell Seymour and Marvin Dye. Other members of the Sheriff's Department, the Elberton Police Department and the Georgia State Patroll will serve as honorary pallbearers
